Small Business Saturday reminders

Even if you haven’t done much to prep for Small Business Saturday 2019, here are some simple things your local business can do right now to get ready for one of the busiest weekends of the year.

Make sure any extended or shorter hours are listed online

Opening early? Closing late? If your hours are different this weekend (and into the upcoming holiday season), double check that they’re updated on Google, Apple Maps and all the other places your customers may look for them.

Think of a “one-day only” special, promotion or offer

You don’t have to “give away the store” to make your customers feel like they’re getting something special from you this Small Business Saturday. Something small can make a big difference!

  • 10% off their next transaction through the end of the year
  • A raffle, giveaway or other type of contest to keep things interesting
  • A website- or social media-specific reward (like “Show us that you shared this post on Facebook to get a FREE {insert something valuable here} this Saturday only”

Bring in some goodies for you and your staff

A lot of us will still be recovering from a few days of eating too much — a box of coffee can go a long way to helping everyone stay alert feel appreciated. If anyone is visiting your business on Saturday, two boxes of coffee (or an extra box of donuts) can’t hurt either.

And finally, don’t forget to thank your customers! Whether they’ll be stopping by, talking to you on the phone, or emailing or messaging with you online, everyone appreciates a “thank you.”
