Why Your Small Business Needs a Mobile Website

In 2016, mobile is mandatory

If it’s time to get a website for your small business — or upgrade the one you already have — go the extra mile and make sure it’s a mobile-friendly website. Believe it or not, it could put you ahead of some of your “big box” competitors.

According to Supreme Optimization, 60% of internet traffic is coming from mobile devices… but more than 50% of Fortune 500 companies don’t have a mobile-optimized website. So while a majority of people are shopping on smartphones and tablets, only a minority of companies are offering mobile-friendly sites.

Mobile is a priority for Google

It’s not just consumers driving this change. Google’s so-called “Mobilegeddon” in April 2015 officially started prioritizing mobile-friendly websites in the search results on mobile devices.  This means that you can have the most gorgeous design and the most user-friendly original content… but if your site isn’t mobile optimized, it’s going to be harder to find on Google.

Now it’s time to check if your site is mobile optimized.  Grab your smartphone, visit your website, and make sure the answer to these questions is “Yes!”

  1. Does it load in less than 5 seconds?
  2. Is it easy to read?
  3. Does it draw your eye to key points?
  4. Is it easy to navigate?

If you answered “No” to any of these questions, it’s time to get your small business website optimized for mobile. If you don’t, you could be missing out on visits, sales, and lifetime customers.
