Women’s History Month Spotlight: Lisa Mercado
Celebrating a few of the strong women we’re proud to call leaders
With March marking Women’s History Month, Hibu will be spending the month spotlighting some of the amazing female leaders we’re lucky enough to have in our organization. We’re very excited to share some of their stories with you.
Meet Lisa Mercado, our Regional Sales Director for the Long Island (#strongisland) / NYC Region
How long have you been at Hibu?
18 years, yep I started when I was 12 😄.
Have you worked in any other departments?
I worked in the Training & Recruiting department for 2 fabulous years, I was part of a terrific team and made wonderful friendships, not to mention the fact that the work was so rewarding.
Where did you work before Hibu?
Sold Xerox copiers and before that health club memberships for Bally’s.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Seeing my team win! Sales is a tough gig…it takes a hard work, tenacity, and consistency, just to name a few. So when I see someone’s hard work paying off I feel great. No better feeling than getting a call from a rep or manager to share what a great sales call they just had or how well their client’s campaign is performing….you can hear their smile on the phone and hopefully, they can hear mine
Give one piece of advice to someone aspiring to get to your position.
Make yourself the obvious choice. You do this by not only exceeding your goals but also by anticipating what needs to be done and then getting it done before you are asked. Always look for and implement solutions….everyone is always quick to point out the problems but few deliver working solutions. Let someone know when they are being awesome!
Outside of Hibu, what do you like to do?
Workout, dance, sing badly—to all my friends’ chagrin – and spend time with family.
What’s your favorite local business?
The Sampler BK, in Bushwick Brooklyn and Original Pizza on Ave L, and Harbor Fitness in Mill Basin also in Brooklyn. I grab a drink, have a slice and then have to go to the gym to workout, lol. I live in Brooklyn, can you tell? 😄 “Spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way!!”
