Recognizing Asian/Pacific American employees at Hibu

Picture of Tim Valko

Tim Valko – Sales Training Manager

“Be someone who loves seeing others succeed. When you win, we all win!”

What do you do here at Hibu?

Currently I am a Sales Training Manager for Hibu. I am part of a team that trains Hibu’s newest recruits as they join our Premise outside sales force across the nation during their initial eight weeks at Hibu.

How long have you been at Hibu? Have you worked in any other departments? Where did you work before Hibu?

In the 15 years that I have been here at Hibu, I have had multiple positions. They range from being out in the field as a Premise Sales Rep, leading a team as a Sales Manager, traveling the country with the Strategic Implementation Team, leading a team of Sales Trainers as a Senior Sales Training Manager, to piloting the US Hispanic Training classes. Prior to Hibu, I was selling Pest Control Door-to-Door, working on commissions only!

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

I find it very rewarding to see our new hires shine and become successful straight out of training. I love it when new hires reach out to me after getting their very first sale, hitting Premium pay and winning President’s Club! It’s so great to see them get promoted into a Senior Account Executive position, Sales management, or a DASMs/webinar Specialist.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone aspiring to get to your position, what would it be?

I have two pieces of advice.

  1. Make sure you are exceeding the sales quota expectations that you have been given. Not just meeting but exceeding.
  2. Be someone who loves seeing others succeed. When you win, we all win!

Outside of Hibu, what do you like to do?

I love to travel–I love experiencing different cultures and exploring different parts of the world. So far, I have been to 29 countries and 49 of the 50 states (I just have Wisconsin left!) My wife and kids love to travel, too. We have a goal to get our kids to experience all 50 states before our oldest graduates in 5 years—they have 14 states left to go.

What’s your favorite local business?

My favorite local business is Wild Root Café in downtown Boise. All local ingredients and the food is delicious.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is successfully achieving Hibu sales performance every day!

If you could give one piece of advice to someone aspiring to get to your position, what would it be?

Some advice would be, Professional Leadership; being part of a team that is capable of accomplishing the company’s sales goals.

Eric Jaen – Digital Services Team Lead

“Find that balance of working hard and staying motivated…”

What do you do here at Hibu?

I am a Digital Services Team Lead.

How long have you been at Hibu? Have you worked in any other departments? Where did you work before Hibu?

I have been with Hibu since Sept. 2017. Previously, I worked with Comcast.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of the job is being able to share knowledge with the team and helping them grow. Being someone they can trust and feel comfortable coming to with issues or are looking for advice on how to handle different situations.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone aspiring to get to your position, what would it be?

Find that balance of working hard and staying motivated, while still also having fun and joking around with your peers. In this position you also don’t necessarily need to be best friends with everyone you meet, but respecting others and being a pleasant person to interact with can go a long way

Outside of Hibu, what do you like to do?

Outside of Hibu, I like spending time with my wife and son. Playing bass in a pop-punk band. We are in the process of recording a new EP. https://graysonband.bandcamp.com/music

What’s your favorite local business?

My favorite local business is Stickman Brews in Royersford, PA.

Brijesh Vadher – Director, Infranstructure

“It’s clear that we succeed when our customers succeed.”

What do you do here at Hibu?

I’m part of the Hibu IT Infrastructure team.  We support the development, delivery and maintenance of the systems and infrastructure that support Hibu’s customer facing products as well as internal systems used by Hibu employees.

How long have you been at Hibu? Have you worked in any other departments? Where did you work before Hibu?

I’ve been at Hibu since 2007 and have always been part of the IT team.  I work with a tremendous and dedicated team of professionals and love the people I work with.  Before Hibu, I worked for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where I was an IT Systems Engineer.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Hibu has provided me the opportunity to work with great people, gain new skills and learn new technology.  During my time at Hibu, as a company, we have gone thru tremendous change and every aspect of it has been a great learning and growth experience.  It’s rewarding to know that as an individual, I contribute to Hibu’s goal of helping small to medium businesses succeed.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone aspiring to get to your position, what would it be?

I would say the things that were important to me in my position were to have an eye towards being customer focused.  Whether that be an external customer or internal customers like other teams within Hibu.  It’s clear that we succeed when our customers succeed.

Outside of Hibu, what do you like to do?

Outside of Hibu, I enjoy world travel (favorites so far are Africa, Italy and Peru), photography, basketball, woodworking and of course binge-watching Netflix.

What’s your favorite local business?

I’d say my favorite local businesses so far are all small restaurants.  There are lots of good ones but maybe a favorite of ours is Thai Orchid in Malvern.
